this is reproduction based on a painting by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres titled after his subject Madmoiselle Caroline Rivere which you can see here
the face is based on actress Christina Ricci. whom i chose because of her classic features, her eyes and lips are perfect for this particular reproduction.
very much in "illustration" style, it's about how we alienate and isolate ourselves with our obsession with growth and technology.

*Updated for new sizes and slight image adjustments, thank you.

An uncommonly beautiful masterpiece of a painting, displaced by elaborate schemes by *cryptorchid is available as a print, and is the first to grace my own wishlist. Be sure to view in full.

Christina Ricci is my love doll!
oh my goosh
this is simply orgasmic.
and how flaoty i feel now.
its amazing to see what you feel and grind your teeth over completely spelled out in someone else’s art. breathtaking

technology..eh
its horrid and scares me to pieces yet i live on a computer basically!
i keep having this horrid dream.
it started a few years back..when i really started to abandon my "real life" for a "virtual" one.

its based off the times when i was having really bad insomnia during summers I would stay up all night..walk down to the beach around 4 am( used to live less then a block from Venice beach) and wonder about on the shore till the sun came up.
I had a dream i was walking down to the beach, like i always did when that happened but this time i had a strange urge to dig. So i started digging in the sand...my hand touched something soft and cold. I kept digging and eventually i uncovered my own lifeless body. Just when i realize its me waves rush over and cover up my body and through the glassy surface of the water some weird inverted mirror thing happens and im able to look inside my body past the skin. Instead of seeing organs and flesh like i suspectedi would see i saw gears and microchips..gasoline and wires. I flip out of course...and run away. I try and rest and forget about the horridness i had witnessed but i realize there is no life around. No birds or bums..no people..nothing. Im the only one "alive"...and so i sit in this abandoned life guard post waiting for the sun to come up but it never does.

i dont know... it could be interoperated in many ways but i think it symbolized a lot about my transition into this synthetic reality based on technology..robotic life.
scary and strange.

wow! sorry im rambling. im in quite the chatty mood today.

i love this piece!
so tasty...
