I was too tired to edit this description last night, i just uploaded the image without border. i've decided to go into a little more depth with this piece.
right. I was diagnosed with severe clinical depression when i was thirteen. It's both chemical and situational. i've been on three different medications of the span of six years. zoloft, efexor and celexa.
My views on medication in treatment of depression is complicated. i believe in many cases it can help quite a lot (though often times finding the right kind of medication is a problem) in others cases, medication is not right for the situation. Often drugs are used simply as a bandaid and the real issues of depression aren't addressed through therapy and emotional support. When it comes to myself i have an aversion to taking pills of any kind, i don't even like taking advil or vitamin c. So i tend to go on and then off, which is not so healthy. As for therapy i've had some experiences, both good and bad. It can be very helpful to talk things over with a third party. As long as this third party is qualified and you trust them.
Though I am not currently seeing a therapist, i most likely will again in the future.
A word of advice to those seeking help, Psychotherapists are not doctors, and require no credentials or training to call themselves psychotherapists. If you decide to go into therapy, go through your doctor and as for a Psychologist or Psychiatrist, in Canada these two are covered either through OHIP or Insurance. I'm not sure how it works in the rest of the world. I suggest that if you are having trouble coping with depression you find a professional in your area, like they say, there's no need to suffer silently and alone.
How hiliarious! Just today I was looking at my ashtray, and it would have amounted to an emotionally similar shot!
Glad you're off "the stuff," and that you CAN be!!!
As for the shot itself, wow, that porcelain really gave you fabulous shadow within it, didn't it? Very cool all-around incentive for shooting with film - I don't think my digital could have accomplished this...
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
